Stony Book Women’s Basketball senior forward India Pagan added another accolade to her lengthy resumé.

Pagan was named to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team, the conference announced earlier today. The forward has been tabbed to the team in back-to-back seasons.

“It’s such an honor to get it for the second year in a row,” Pagan said in a press release. “My accomplishments are team accomplishments, so add this one to our list. I’m super thankful and super blessed to be chosen preseason all-conference. I just want to keep getting better, growing and expanding my game to help my team any way I can.”

Pagan led the conference in shooting for the second consecutive season– shooting 50.7 percent from the floor in 2019-20. The forward led Stony Brook by sinking 156 field-goals and averaging over 13 points per contest. She also earned three conference weekly awards and was named to the All Conference First-Team.

A Stony Brook player has made the preseason team for three straight seasons– Shania Johnson was honored with a spot prior to the 2018-19 season.

The veteran will command a revamped roster aiming for another America East Championship this season.

For the third straight season, Stony Brook placed second place in the conference preseason poll. The Seawolves earned 76 points and four head coach votes, only trailing the Maine Black Bears by two points and votes for the top spot.

Both polls were conducted by the conference’s ten head coaches. This year featured voting by NJIT for the first time in conference history.

Maine and Stony Brook were scheduled to play for the 2019-20 America East Championship before it was canceled in March. The Seawolves were awarded the conference title by having the top seed.

The Seawolves led the conference and finished the regular season 28-3 (14-2), a program record. The Black Bears followed in second place, going 12-4 in America East action, but went 18-14 overall. Both teams split victories in their last two matches.

Stony Brook is scheduled to open the season against the Fordham Rams on Wednesday, Nov. 25th at Island Federal Arena.
